"I am tired of this life. These people. I am tired of being caught in the entanglement of their lives..."

I heard this quote from the movie Watchmen. The character, Dr. Manhattan, is a super being who can do anything. He is so powerful that he can see the past, future, and present, he can be at multiple places at once, and teleport at will.  Being as powerful as he is he begins to lose touch with humanity. This is all taking place during the time where the Soviets and U.S are on the brink of nuclear war and the world is in great turmoil.

Dr. Manhattan asked this question because he didn't see a point in being a human or a reason to save humanity.

What is the point in being human if all we do is constantly bring ourselves to the edge of annihilation?  If we had th epower to save humanity, would we?
